We recently had our hot water heater replaced after our previous heater failed and flooded our basement. We couldn't be happier with the entire experience! From start to finish, the process was smooth, efficient, and professional. Manny and his team arrived right on time, carefully removed the old unit, and installed the new heater with expert precision. Manny had made our job a priority. The new hot water heater works flawlessly, providing consistent, hot water with impressive energy efficiency. Manny was friendly, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain how to maintain the system and the automatic water shutoff. Overall, this replacement has brought us peace of mind knowing we have a reliable source of hot water for our home. We highly recommend this service to anyone in need of a quality water heater upgrade! Akian had also replaced our gas furnace at the end of 2024 and had the same excellent service.

Matt B. is exceptional and has an encyclopedic knowledge of boiler systems. He can answer questions about every permutation of considerations in the lead up to purchasing an efficient, safe new boiler. We were pleasantly surprised by his fluency and responsiveness when we peppered him with over an hour of questions and the company’s patience with us in considering a major purchase. I would highly recommend Matt and Akian Plumbing.

I rarely leave google reviews. However, I felt like my experience with Aikian was so positive that I wanted to share. I appreciated the professional communication - very streamlined and attentive, the workmanship was excellent. They did exactly what they said they would do. The cost DIDN'T change, after the contract/quote. They were respectful in the home - kept things clean, used lots of drop clothes/shoe protection. There was an aspect of professionalism, promptness, and communication that I so very much appreciated. Would highly recommend. Would use again.

Absolutely horrible. Repeatedly reschedules due to their own errors and takes multiple trips to fix an issue to drive up their hours. Customer service is terrible and unresponsive after 4:30 and they offer no weekend support. We have been without hot water for over two weeks because of the company but charged over $1000+.

I called to ask for a general price range for replacing a P-trap. They told me they would not provide any pricing information unless they first sent a master plumber out for a $120 service call. I even asked what the *lowest* possible cost for a basic P-trap replacement would be, just so I could have some idea of what to expect, and they still refused to answer. That made me uncomfortable. I understand that an exact quote may require seeing the job in person, but refusing to provide even a starting price or rough range felt unnecessarily vague. I didn't feel comfortable paying $120 upfront without having any idea what I might ultimately be charged, so I decided not to move forward with them.

Sean and Andrew were great. I came home from work one day to discover water damage to my bathroom ceiling. Sean came out quickly to assess the situation. He was able to get someone out to remediate right away. Once the cleanup was complete, Andrew came out to do some further investigate and was able to successfully identify the water source in my very old condo building in Brighton. Both were very friendly and professional. Highly recommended!

So wanted to give an update to a 2 star review i left for Akian for work done about a month ago. I had two gripes: Call center customer service and dispatch and high pricing. I have to give their management credit: They saw my review, reached out and yesterday service manage Jeff called me. It's rare these days for someone to really listen to how things looked on my side of the road and to Jeff's credit he did that. Not only that we reached and agreement regarding what i felt was high pricing two two of the three components they replaced on my AC system. In addition he mentioned that they are moving away from the foreign call center customer service--this is a good thing. Who wants to feel if they get disconnected they can't call the person back? All this reassured me that despite some issues they are getting themselves on track and that they cared enough to make things right for me.

Carlos came today to troubleshoot my central AC. which stopped working yesterday. He was very upfront saying that he was unfamiliar with my particular set up. However, with assistance from his office, he was able to diagnose and fix the issue. It was not a simple 1-2-3 due to the poor initial installation from another company 9 years ago. He was diligent looking for solutions and was able to get the AC working. Part of the issue was the thermostat, which he replaced. I will make Akian my go-to company for my system. thank you Carlos. It is only a 4 because I was hoping for same day services yesterday.

Do not call if you actually have an emergency. Called them around 5pm this afternoon, told them my toilet was leaking all over the floor and that I was on the ground floor of a multi-floor condominium building. They opened a ticket and said someone would be out between 6pm and midnight. Called around 6:30 to see if there was an update, because even with the water turned off I had about 2 inches of water leaking out onto the floor. She said the plumber was finishing up a call then heading to me. I called an hour later and she said "oh, we don't service multi-floor buildings you will have to call someone else but they NEVER called to tell me. Wasted two hours waiting for a plumber that was never coming, causing damage to the bathroom floor and the carpeting in the hallway.

Is Your AC System Struggling in Middlesex County?

Recognizing the early warning signs of a failing air conditioner can save you from a complete system breakdown and costly emergency repairs. Many homeowners wait until the system fails completely, but acting early preserves your equipment’s lifespan.

Are you facing these common cooling issues?

  • Is your AC unit blowing hot air instead of cold?
  • Are your energy bills unexpectedly skyrocketing?
  • Do you hear loud grinding, squealing, or banging noises?

Our certified technicians use advanced diagnostic tools to pinpoint the exact location of a leak or mechanical failure. We perform precision repairs on Air Conditioning Condensers to restore proper refrigerant levels and get ice-cold air flowing back into your home immediately. From faulty capacitors to clogged condensate lines, we handle it all with local expertise.

When your vents are pushing out warm air, the cooling cycle has been interrupted.

  • Check the Thermostat: Ensure it is set to “Cool” and not “Heat” or “Fan Only.” A simple setting error is often the culprit.

  • Inspect the Air Filter: A clogged filter restricts airflow, which can cause the Evaporator Coils to freeze over. Replace your filter to restore proper air movement.

  • Examine the Outdoor Unit: Check your circuit breaker to ensure the Air Conditioning Condenser has power. If the indoor fan is running but the outdoor unit isn’t, the heat isn’t being removed from your home.

  • Professional Diagnostic: If these steps don’t work, you likely have a refrigerant leak or a failed capacitor. These require a licensed technician to repair and recharge the system safely.

High utility bills usually mean your system is working harder than it should to achieve the same temperature.

  • Clean the Coils: Dirt buildup on the Condenser Coils (outdoor) or Evaporator Coils (indoor) forces the system to run longer cycles. A professional cleaning can restore factory-level efficiency.

  • Seal Leaky Ductwork: Up to 30% of conditioned air can escape through leaks in your ducts before it reaches your rooms. Sealing these leaks ensures the air you pay to cool actually stays inside.

  • Schedule a Tune-Up: Worn-out mechanical parts create friction, which consumes more electricity. Regular maintenance on Air Handlers and motors keeps the system running “lean.”

  • Consider an Upgrade: If your unit is over 10–15 years old, its SEER rating may be too low for modern efficiency. Replacing it with a high-efficiency Heat Pump can significantly lower monthly costs.

Unusual noises are physical warning signs of mechanical failure.

  • Banging or Clanking: This typically indicates a loose or broken part—like a connecting rod or crankshaft—inside the compressor, or a loose fan blade hitting the housing. Shut the system down immediately to prevent a total breakdown.

  • Squealing or Screeching: This is often caused by a slipping fan belt or dry bearings in the Air Handler or condenser motor. A technician can lubricate the bearings or replace the belt during a standard service call.

  • Grinding Sounds: This is almost always a sign of worn-out motor bearings. Metal-on-metal friction will eventually burn out the motor, so it’s best to replace the bearings or the motor assembly as soon as possible.

  • Buzzing: Often points to electrical issues, such as a failing contactor or loose wiring. Because of the high voltage involved, this should always be handled by a professional.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does AC repair cost in Belmont, MA?

The cost of AC repair in Belmont, MA varies depending on the issue. Minor repairs, such as replacing a capacitor or cleaning a condensate line, are relatively affordable. Major repairs involving the Air Conditioning Condenser or refrigerant leak repair can be more costly. We provide transparent, upfront pricing after a professional diagnostic to ensure there are no surprises.

Why is my air conditioner running but not cooling the house?

If your system is running but the temperature isn't dropping, you likely have a dirty evaporator coil, a refrigerant leak, or a clogged air filter. In the Greater Massachusetts Area, high humidity can also cause coils to freeze if airflow is restricted. Our technicians can quickly identify the mechanical failure and restore your home’s comfort.

Is it better to repair my old AC or replace it with a heat pump?

If your unit is over 10–15 years old and requires frequent repairs, an upgrade is often more cost-effective. Modern Heat Pumps and Ductless Mini-Split Systems offer much higher efficiency, which lowers your utility bills. Additionally, homeowners in Middlesex County may qualify for substantial rebates when switching to energy-efficient cooling solutions.

How often should I schedule AC maintenance in Middlesex County?

To prevent emergency breakdowns during a heatwave, we recommend professional maintenance at least once a year, ideally in the spring. Regular service includes cleaning the Air Handlers, checking refrigerant levels, and inspecting electrical components. This proactive approach extends the lifespan of your equipment and keeps your energy bills low.

Can I fix my AC unit myself, or do I need a professional?

While homeowners can safely change air filters and clear debris from the outdoor Air Conditioning Condenser, most repairs require professional tools and licensing. Handling refrigerants or electrical wiring without training is dangerous and can void your manufacturer’s warranty. For reliable AC repair in Suffolk County, it is always best to call a certified technician.
